Family Tour in West Iceland

Family Tour in West Iceland in 8 days / 7 nights

This tour is specially designed for families with children 2 children 14 years or younger are free of charge ( stay together with their parents in one family room or apartment).

Driving is kept to a minimum. The sights and activities should interest children of all ages.

Snæfellsnes peninsula and the seal colony at Ytri-Tunga and boat tour on Breiðafjörður bay
Glanni waterfall, Grábrók volcano and Hreðavatn Lake and outdoor hot tubs
The Hraunfossar waterfalls and the swimming pool at Húsafell
Þingvellir National Park.

Day 1: ARRIVAL AND BLUE LAGOON

Arrival in Iceland. If time allows, visit the Blue Lagoon and explore the Reykjanes peninsula.
Overnight in Reykjavík at Fosshótel Baron or similar.

Day 2: ICELANDIC SAGAS AND WATERFALLS

Drive to Borgarfjörður, the saga valley in West Iceland. Here you might visit the Hraunfossar waterfalls and Húsafell, where you can go swimming and play minigolf. Take an optional horseback riding tour in Húsafell.
Stay 3 nights in a family room at Fosshótel Reykholt in West Iceland, or similar.

Day 3: FAMILY PARKS, WATERFALLS AND HOT SPRINGS

Enjoy Þingvellir National Park, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where the first Viking parliament was held. Visit Slakki Family Park and Farm Animal Zoo at Laugarás near Flúðir. Travel to Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot springs and Kerið, a volcanic crater.

Day 4: BORGARFJÖRÐUR INTENSIVE

Bifröst area awaits, where you can explore the unique lava landscape on a walk around Glanni waterfall, Grábrók volcano and Hreðavatn Lake. Relax in the outdoor hot tubs, go fishing or visit the saga settlement museum in Borgarnes.

Day 5: SNAEFELLSNES PENISULA

Explore Snæfellsnes peninsula and the seal colony at Ytri-Tunga. Stykkishólmur is a pretty fishing village with many old houses. We recommend to take a boat tour on Breiðafjörður bay.
Overnight 2 nights on Snæfellsnes peninsula.

Day 6: SNAEFELLSNES NATIONAL PARK

Spend a whole day in Snæfellsnes national park. Perfect for a hike or glacier walk. Go on a skidoo tour or from Ólafsvík on a boat tour on Breiðafjörður bay.

Day 7: CITY BREAK AT REYKJAVIK

Drive back to Reykjavík today. Stroll through Reykjavík city center, visit the Family Park and Farm Animal Zoo and go to an outdoor swimming pool. Don’t miss the viewing platform at “Perlan”, where you can enjoy a delicious ice cream. Younger children might like to feed the ducks and swans at the city pond. On a warm summer day you might just like to relax at Nauthólsvík, a geothemal beach with hot tubs.
Stay the last night in Reykjavík in Fosshótel Baron.

Day 8: DEPART FOR HOME

If the time allows: enjoy Reykjavík, or explore the Reykjanes Peninsula with a stop at the Blue Lagoon to relax in the natural hot seawater.
